While intended primarily for search and rescue deployment activities, the COD can also be used to deliver SMS Broadcast messages in a disaster response scenario to locations with little or no cell coverage.

Rural Broadband: Keeping it Simple
The Canadian federal government recently announced its strategy, Digital Canada 150, to enable Canadians to take full advantage of the opportunities of the digital age. One of the five pillars of the strategy, titled Connecting Canadians, highlights enabling broadband Internet services for 280,000 Canadian households in rural and remote areas. Affordable connectivity in rural and remote parts of Canada is a challenge.
We recently announced a new IMPAC System capable of supporting 4G LTE technology. First responders and public safety practitionners in many countries rely on broadband networks to help them complete their job functions. During a disaster event or incident situation they need to have these communications capabilities available to them. Traditionally mobile network operators have deployed cell on wheels (COWs) to restore or recover cellular network coverage when their normal equipment goes out of service.
Star Solutions’ IMPAC System enables public safety practitionners to take with them cellular networks to meet event the most challenging disaster situations and quickly set up communications in the field. These two videos below provide you with a glimpse of how the IMPAC System can be deployed.
