5G NR Base Stations
Star Solutions offers 5G NR basestation equipment in two configurations: Integrated and Distributed.
5G Integrated gNodeB
The 5G Integrated gNodeB combines the 5G baseband and remote radio functional components into a single enclosure making it easy to deploy 5G NR wireless access. The 3GPP R16 based platform has an integrated design showcasing the advantages of low power consumption, small form-factor, and ease of deployment making it suitable for several applications and deployment types. Radio configurations include single 4×4 MIMO or two-sector 2×2 MIMO transmit options and support for 10/20/40/50/60/80/100 MHz channel bandwidths.
5G Distributed gNodeB
The 5G Distributed gNodeB utilizes a central unit to support 5G NR basestation processing functions to control and manage multiple 5G NR radio transmitters. This central unit, the BBU, realizes the 5G NR access network protocol stack function, RRC, PDCP, SDAP, RLC,
MAC and PHY protocol layer functions, as well as baseband processing functions.
Using fiber optic cable technology with CPRI/eCPRI protocol, remote radio units (RRUs) connect to the BBU to output 5G NR radio signals. Star Solutions offers different RRU models to support low, medium and high power transmit configurations in both single 4×4 MIMO and two-sector 2x2MIMO configurations.

iCell® COMPAC LTE Macro
The iCell COMPAC LTE Macro eNodeB supports 2×2 MIMO LTE operation and is capable of using channel bandwidths up to 20MHz. The unit integrates conventional digital baseband unit functions with the remote radio head. This allows for simple deployment and ease of installation and maintenance.
The form factor of the iCell COMPAC LTE Macro allows it to be easily transported and installed. Its rugged enclosure is rated to IP65 protection and can be mounted outdoors on pole tops, walls or building rooftops – suitable for deployment in almost any geographical location.

iCell® eNodeB
Star Solutions offers a variety of 4G LTE eNodeB products including configurations using macro and small cell transmit power levels. We support a number of different 3GPP Bands including products for LTE public safety band 14 for North America and band 28 used in international jurisdictions. iCell® COMPAC & QuadPAC IP-RAN
Star Solutions also offers microcell base station solutions to enable operators to expand coverage and capacity for GSM, CDMA2000® 1X and EV-DO services. The iCell® COMPAC IP-RAN platform is a cost-effective products targeted for ease of deployment and integration. For some operators, lowered power consumption is essential for targeting remote or rural areas where alternative energy sources might be deployed to support cell site infrastructure. The iCell® family of microcell base station products is ideal for this scenario.

The unit is passively cooled, avoiding the need for fans or air-conditioning, and is specifically designed for low power consumption. The iCell® COMPAC IP-RAN is ideal for deployment with alternative energy sources such as solar or wind-powered systems when commercial power is not readily available. For ease of installation, optional mounting kits for Pole, Roof and Wall are available.
The iCell® QuadPAC IP-RAN platform is an alternative hardware configuration based on a single 19″ rack unit form factor. Designed with lower transmit power in mind, this basestation configuration is deployed in maritime/vessel environments, campus networks and test labs around the world.
