San Mateo, CA, Jan. 25, 2016 – Sonim Technologies, maker of the world’s toughest mobile phones and Star Solutions, a leading supplier of mobile network infrastructure solutions, have partnered to provide portable Band 14 LTE networks to U.S. and Canadian public safety agencies.

The dedicated Band 14 LTE network provides a high-speed wireless data pipeline that is not impacted by or available to the general public. Sunwave Communications, a specialist in Digital DAS technology has recently concluded negotiations with Canada’s Star Solutions to co-develop a Thin-RAN appliance, to complement its CrossFire platform.

Munich – December 14, 2015 – The buzz in the DAS and Small Cell community in recent months has been about Cloud-RAN (C-RAN), but there is an equally strong case for a compact software defined Thin-RAN approach to DAS deployment strategies, where LTE radios of any 3GPP band, FDD or TDD, are dynamically assigned to meet end-user capacity needs.

With sustained resistance to evolve from Remote Radio Head topologies to a multi-operator, multi-technology DAS Remote Unit topology, the adoption of CPRI connections between Baseband Units and Digital DAS head-ends is a long term objective for most cellular operators.

A new concept of search and rescue by combining mobile expertise and drones

Barcelona, Spain. March 2, 2015 – Star Solutions has announced today a new concept for search and rescue that combines over 20 years of cellular experience and the latest developments in drone technology. The new innovation, Cellular network On Drone (COD), utilizes Star Solutions’ ultra-compact cellular network technology with highly mobile drones to allow first responders to locate and communicate with users that are lost or in distress.

Today’s drones are capable of flying at high altitudes and can capture aerial video or photos of the environment below. By adding Star Solutions’ standalone wireless network and on board intelligent controller, first responders are able to program the COD to fly to a specified area and initiate a search. When the COD reaches its designated area, it will detect phones and their locations. Once detected, the COD can exchange text messages and place calls to the phones. The intelligent controller will determine if help is needed, otherwise, the COD will continue with its search until the subject is found.
