Rural Coverage
Introduction
The Rural Coverage solution enabled by Star Solution’s CDMA and GSM All-IP system provides seamless coverage in areas where wireless coverage has been traditionally unavailable. The solution leverages IP based networking to connect network elements and eliminates the need for costly TDM connections. The All-IP network can be deployed to also support wireless coverage in urban and suburban areas as well.
Expanding into Rural Areas Using Minimal Bandwidth
One of the key value propositions of the Star Solutions All-IP solution is that it can be cost effectively deployed to provide wireless coverage in areas where previously not possible. The amount of traffic backhaul bandwidth required to support these new areas can be optimized using this solution.
In the All-IP CDMA solution, TDM connections are completely eliminated. Operators can easily expand into rural areas deploying CDMA IP-RAN and Sonata IMG network elements to address wireless traffic and PSTN interconnect demand as required. Using EVRC, operators benefit from 8:1 bandwidth efficiency over TDM, resulting in an 80% or more OPEX savings for the operator. Further, the softswitch architecture employed by the All-IP solution enables voice traffic to be optimally routed within the network leading to tremendous OPEX savings in addition to those aforementioned.
